The Marine Terminal Information System (MTIS) is a programme developed by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum to fill the gaps that exist in the international standards for terminals. Terminal operators use MTIS to share information about their terminals in a common format and using consistent units of measurement. The goal is to ensure that all terminals worldwide reach a common high standard of safety and environmental protection.

The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) is a voluntary association of oil companies (the ‘members’) who have an interest in the shipment and terminalling of crude oil, oil products, petrochemicals and gas. OCIMF’s mission is to be the foremost authority on the safe and environmentally responsible operation of oil tankers, terminals and offshore support vessels, promoting continuous improvement in standards of design and operation.
