The Secretariat provides a risk advisory function with input from Functional Committees and Expert Groups with specific responsibility for maintaining and updating OCIMF’s Prioritisation Matrix and bowtie risk-assessment methodology which are then reviewed and endorsed by the Principal Committees.
The Prioritisation Matrix guides the allocation of resources by defining risks in the marine industry in terms of their impact and their likely frequency. Work is then assigned to the relevant Functional Committees and Expert Groups to develop publications, programmes or advocacy outcomes. In addition to servicing the Executive Committee (ExCom) and the committees, the Secretariat also represent members at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
