Offshore

The purpose of the OCIMF Floating Systems Expert Group is to provide a forum for open discussion amongst the operators of offshore terminals and marine offshore facilities including floating production storage and offloading systems permanently moored or of a disconnectable nature.

These facilities may be located in any water depth or environment and designated to handle any petroleum products including LPG and LNG. Also included are specialised shuttling operations and ship-to-ship transfer systems. This discussion will include the compatibility of equipment and procedures employed, to ensure that tankers may use any such terminals regardless of ownership in safety and with maximum preservation of life, prevention of damage and protection of the environment. Under no circumstances whatsoever should members of the Forums or Working Groups raise or discuss issues of a commercial nature. 

The OCIMF Floating Systems Expert Group ensuring personnel are trained and equipped to appropriately manage those operational risks particularly at offshore terminals and Floating systems, and that the highest standards of safety and best practice are implemented is a critical concern in preventing harm to people and the environment.

The Offshore Vessel Operations Expert Group (OVOEG) provides subject matter expertise on the operation and management of offshore vessels with particular emphasis on marine operations within an offshore safety exclusion zone. The group supports the delivery of best practices and regulatory advocacy related to marine operations on offshore vessel types, as defined within the Offshore Vessel Inspection Database.

The best practices and guidance supported developed by the Offshore Vessel Operations Expert Group help to ensure that personnel involved in the assurance, management and implementation of offshore vessel operations are trained and supported to manage those operational risks, and the highest standards of safety and best practice are implemented to prevent harm to people and the environment.
